Description
London based jazz singer Linley Weir has built a reputation on the London jazz scene having performed at leading venues : Ronnie Scotts, The Pheasantry, 606 Club, The National Theatre and the Marlborough Jazz Festival amongst others as well as performing live on Jazz FM Radio. She has supported Soul Legend Omar MBE and Chart-Topping Jazz-Funk Band Shakatak. Her stunning vocal and distinctive sound have thrilled Jazz audiences in Tokyo, Dubai and China.
Linley's signature contralto voice is sensitive – authentic – soulful – smoky and original. When Linley performs she is in her element, singing soul-inspired, modern jazz, that is not constrained by traditional genre boundaries.
She will be joined by IMA nominated pianist John Crawford who was born in London to English/Spanish Parents. He is one of the finest Latin/Jazz pianists on the scene, and brings impressive technique and musicianship to his blend of jazz, flamenco and Latin.
A new voice in jazz, one that's rooted in the classic influences of Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson. Like those legendary vocalists, Weir's singing finds that bittersweet spot between jazz and blues.'
