Northern Soul
The term ‘Northern Soul’ was first coined by journalist and American R+B expert Dave Godin. This music and dance movement emerged in the late 1960s and is based on a particular style of black American soul music with a heavy beat and fast tempo. When you hear this type of music for the first time, you immediately relate to the lyrics and the uplifting melodies. Many of these records should have been chart hits but unfortunately, due to limited budgets they sank without trace!
