This is a two-night concert by brilliant Kurdish musician Mem Ararat, who has become a fast-rising name in Kurdish music in recent years. Multi-instrumentalist Mem Ararat’s lyrical and entrancingly beautiful voice in the captivating atmosphere of the Old Church in Stoke Newington, the only surviving Elizabethan Church, will join with another two brilliant London-based Kurdish female musicians, great harpist Tara Jaff and marvelous singer Suna Alan. They will be accompanied by UK based great musicians Nihad Jemsher on Bass Guitar, Emre Kubilay on Violin, Berdin Pamukçu on Guitar and Salman Söbe on Guitar.
Şevên Kilamên Kurdî / Nights of Kurdish Songs is a new Kurdish music events concept borne out of irrepressible need to exhibit Kurdish music in the UK in a performance layout that it rightly deserves and it will be led by Mustafa Gundogdu, London-based freelance cultural exhibitor and curator of visual and performance arts.
