LIONAL
Formed in late 2013, LIONAL, are an indie/noir pop band from Inverness.
Lional’s sound draws influence from the melancholic aspect of post-punk bands The Smiths and Joy Division though the band are often compared to more modern acts such as Interpol, Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand. The bands debut EP 'My Design' received nationwide critical acclaim with airplay on Vic Galloway's BBC Radio Scotland show, MFR and Jim Gellatly's XFM radio show.
The band recently signed to brand new independent label IMOUT Records and released their debut single 'Season of Salt' in winter 2015 with a tour of Scotland in support. Since then the band have enjoyed further attention including being nominated as best newcomer at the annual Scottish Alternative Music Awards and receiving continued airplay from BBC Radio Scotland and Amazing Radio. The start of 2016 saw the band being included in Vic Galloways 25 bands to watch in 2016 and Jim Gellatly's 10 picks for 2016 in The Scottish Sun. The band also saw no less than 3 of their songs in the top 20 of The Herald Scotland's top 100 Scottish songs of 2015 with single 'Season of Salt' being the highest entry at number 11.
