Description

Tickets now available for Nicer Tuesdays November!

After a particularly inspiring Nicer Tuesdays last week, we’re super excited to announce November’s line-up which is sure to give October’s event a run for its money. As usual, we’ve brought together four speakers from a variety of creative disciplines, with this month’s including digital and interaction design, photography, game design and animation.

Starting with Vikram Kushwar, we’ll then be hearing from Ines Alpha, Ustwo Games and finally Peter Millard. Doors open at 6:30 and the evening kicks off at 7:15 so grab your ticket using the link below, then come back to find out more about this month’s line-up.

Vikram Kushwah

Vikram Kushwah was born in New Delhi and is now based in Oxfordshire, having studied photography in London and Rochester. A practitioner whose work is very much influenced by his years moving between places, at Nicer Tuesdays, he’ll be talking us through his project The Education I Never Had in which he returns to his childhood and his parents’ village. In this series, Vikram photographs students, staff, and his father at the government school that his father has been teaching at for 35 years, reflecting on the past he could have had if he hadn’t been sent away to boarding school in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Ines Alpha

It was while working as an art director in advertising that Paris-based creative Ines Alpha started playing around with 3D renders. Today she has over 115,000 followers on Instagram hooked on her unique output of “digital make-up”. This involves creating “enchanted and fantastic versions of reality,” encouraging a de-dramatisation of beauty and reflecting on our ever-increasing need to express ourselves. At November’s event, she’ll be discussing how she developed this unique practice and provide some insight into how she applies this to commercial projects for the likes of Selfridges, Charli XCX and Nike.

Ustwo

Many will recognise the name Ustwo as the studio which creates digital products, services and immersive experiences, and Ustwo Games is just one arm of this London-based digital powerhouse. Functioning as an independent games studio, its work aims to challenge the medium as seen in hit releases including Monument Valley and Land’s End. At Nicer Tuesdays, the studio’s producer Adrienne Law will take to the stage to tell us about its newest release Assemble with Care, a story of taking things apart and putting ourselves back together as seen through the eyes of Maria, a globe-trotting antique restorer.

Peter Millard

Peter Millard is animator based in London whose work has kept us laughing for years. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he’s recently returned to the capital after a stint in Montreal where he focussed on falling back in love with drawing and animating, a feeling which is clear in recent work such as This Is Pig Meat, a short which sees Peter returning to his signature style of hand-painted stop motion animation. At Nicer Tuesdays, he’ll offer up insight into how he makes his rough and ready, but nonetheless hilarious short films, as well as why he values self-initiated work so highly.

Timings for the evening: doors open at 6.30pm and the talks will begin at 7.15pm. Oval Space will be serving delicious food throughout the evening with the venue open until 10pm and we'll have drinks kindly provided by Camden Town Brewery.
