    Description

Happy New Year and welcome to Nicer Tuesdays 2018! Up our sleeves we’ve stashed a truly exciting and inspiring line-up of speakers from across the creative industries, ready and willing to share their insights, advice, experience and the working processes behind some incredible projects.

Get tickets for our first event of the year to hear from Visual Editions, The Anonymous Project, I Saw John First and Marie Jacotey.

Visual Editions is a book publisher, creative studio and reading lab. Founded by creative director Anna Gerber and strategist Britt Iversen, the duo works at the cross section of publishing, design and tech, such as its collaborative project with Google Creative Lab: Editions at Play. Anna and Britt will be speaking about the latest story to be brought to life via this experimental and immersive web based digital book platform.

The Anonymous Project started around a year ago, a result of co-founder Lee Shulman’s obsession with collecting found photographic slides. Now, with 400,000 slides in the bank, the collection represents our shared history and acts as a “pool of artefacts of daily life” from the 1960s to the digital age. Lee and co-founder Emmanuelle Halkin will be telling us more.

I Saw John First, aka John Christian, is an animator from Norway whose knack for entrancing colour, texture and narrative has seen him direct videos for Coldplay’s All I Can Think About is You and Mr Jukes’ Angels / Your Love. ft BJ The Chicago Kid. At Nicer Tuesdays, John will delve into the latter, taking us behind the intricate creation process.

Known for her expressive and charismatic coloured pencil works, French, London-based illustrator Marie Jacotey has established a loyal fanbase in her short career. This is not least due to her candid, feminist subject matter, explored on small panel comics, prints and lately on larger scale installations. She’ll be explaining the ideas and approach to her recent collaboration with poet Rachael Allen.

Timings for the evening: doors open at 6.30pm and the talks will begin at 7.15pm. Oval Space will be serving delicious food throughout the evening with the venue open until 10pm.

Nicer Tuesdays is an 18+ event; please bring ID with you to the venue.
