    Description

Tickets are now available for February’s Nicer Tuesdays

Welcome to February! How did Dry January go? Are you still keeping up with that OTT gym routine you put in place? Manage to make it 31 days as a vegan? If the answer to any of those is an eye roll, a pang of guilt or a disgruntled mumble, we've got just the thing for you because the one resolution you can keep up with is to keep yourself creatively inspired – and that's where we come in.

Back to its usual slot on the last Tuesday of the month, 25 February, is Nicer Tuesdays and whether you're into animation and illustration, graphic design, photography, advertising or film, this month will have something for you.

    Buck

Buck is a creative studio with offices in New York, LA and Sydney and, luckily for us, the studio's global creative director Benjamin Langsfeld is in town and will be popping by Nicer Tuesdays. Having operated since 2004, Buck is an established and revered name in the industry and is best known for its animation and illustration-led work. Over the years, this has seen the studio work with the BBC, Google, Emirates, IBM and many, many more.

    Rinchen Ato

Rinchen Ato is a photographer born in Cambridge to a Tibetan refugee, and she's been travelling back and forth to east Asia since she was two years old. In that time, she's been documenting her father's homeland with sincerity and intimacy and a selection of these images was recently published as a book titled Kham. The images provide a rare glimpse into a community and region, as she documents the struggles and celebrations of the Tibetan people living in Kham, Qinghai Province. She'll be taking to the Nicer Tuesdays stage to tell us more about this heartfelt series.

    Ali Kurr

Ali Kurr is a filmmaker and director based in London. Having worked in the music video and advertising worlds since graduating from the Courtauld Institute of Art, Ali has produced work for and with Loyle Carner, Poppy Ajudha, Nike and the BBC. Most recently, she produced a short for This Girl Can, an incredibly impactful ongoing campaign by Sport England to promote sport amongst women. During her talk, Ali will be telling us how this piece fits among her wider portfolio which deals with the female narrative and perspective. She will also be sharing some of the thought behind her upcoming film which tells the story of a porn star who “can't have sex”.

    Studio Lowrie

Based in London, Studio Lowrie is a graphic design studio comprising Callin Mackintosh and Michael White. The pair uses their “passion for typography as the basis to challenge each brief, regardless of scale or application.” This year, that saw them taking on the identity of 2020's Sundance Film Festival, a mammoth task which meant a total overhaul and the production of everything from tote bags to sculptures. Callin and Michael will be taking to the stage to break down how they developed this entirely new look for the festival and the thinking that went into it.

Timings for the evening: doors open at 6.30pm and the talks will begin at 7.15pm. Oval Space will be serving delicious food throughout the evening with the venue open until 10pm and we'll have drinks kindly provided by Camden Town Brewery.
