Nuclear Family band are currently 4 individuals bringing their brand of soulful Indie pop as close to the middle of the road as they can get before they get run over. The line up has changed several times over the past few years and now includes brother and sister team Matt and Susie. This is simply a convenience to make sense of the name they chose originally of course.
What to say about the music? Heavily influenced by 70’s pop, rock and soul, the songs and melodies are the most important things here. Most of the songs are about parenthood and family and it is not unfair to say it is more adult orientated pop. ’Creatures in the night’, played on the BBC and placed on a few of their playlists, is a song about nightmares. It was inspired by a conversation with ex member Amina’s little girl. ‘Asshole’, a song dedicated to singer Matt’s children has the most number of swearwords ever to be included in any of the hundreds of songs he has written.

A band on a mission to bring “Modern Life & Dancing” to the masses, they inhabit thatunder-populated area of the venn diagram where dance & punk rock collide.
