    Description

It is our pleasure to invite you to this ground-breaking yoga teacher training, uncovering how and why yoga works so powerfully to facilitate great shifts in our physiology and psyche.

Open to teachers from all yoga traditions, this training is underpinned by a revolutionary fusionof Kundalini Yoga philosophy and scientific study of the human being.

The training will empower teachers to combine their well-honed intuition with a medical perspective and the language to reach those who cannot yet engage in spiritual dialogue.

To register your interest or with any questions, please contact rae@yogalove.co.uk

    You will receive:

Module 3 is entitled Clinical Skills. After three days of training, you will understand how to use language, transference and psychotherapeutic holding for mental health, along with learning the benefits of adapting mindfulness for yogic practice. We aim to provide you with practical guidance to enhance confidence in class and one-on-one settings.

For full details of the course content, please contact rae@yogalove.co.uk

This module is the last of three, following our "Somatic Systems", and "Mental Health & Architectural Neuroscience" training.

The course is open to teachers with a desire to develop their understanding of the human condition, no prior training in neuroscientific study is required. Participants are however required to write, video or voice record the equivalent of 1000-1500 word essay explaining their reasons for wishing to do the course.

To pass the full training participants must submit 3 case studies over 2 sessions (6 in total); supervision by Shaura or one of the team is included in the training cost.

    24-26 Feb 2017 Module 3: Clinical Skills

Students who attended the pilot course in 2015 said the following:

"This course has proved invaluable to my work with mentally ill students. The knowledge gained is invaluable to my OWN life and life experiences, as well as that for my students, as the biology of the brain, nervous systems & physical anatomy are all married together into this brilliant course".

"Throughout the training we were all provided with continuous support (because believe me the content raises many questions) and never-ending patience from the teachers and fellow students. The fascinating topics of both science & spirituality, how they MUST work together, and their relevance in this growing community was enlightening, powerful and life changing."

"I came to Shaura's neuroscience course because I had had a few people turn up for classes who had mental health issues and had found that their symptoms got worse after the class. This course has really helped me understand certain conditions and how to ensure that these people are kept safe. Shaura gave us information, tools and techniques to help these people and has successfully managed to integrate this amazing science into the technology of Kundalini Yoga. I would say this is a must have course for all yoga teachers."
    - Jotipal Kaur.

    Transforming our practice:
Kundalini Yoga has been called a science for many years, but only recently have we begun to accumulate empirical data to explain its mechanisms for those who require this kind of knowledge. Yoga teachers as well as people in the medical community can benefit from yoga training given within a scientific framework that gives them the knowledge and language to traverse between the spiritual and medical domains.

Neuroscience is a fascinating field of study that is helping shed light on the human experience. Although neuroscience was in its infancy at the time Yogi Bhajan shared his knowledge, his interest in and understanding of how the brain works is obvious when we decode some of his comments. Yogi Ji also talked a great deal about what would happen in the Aquarian Age; he said mental illness would rise, and “people would hit the walls”. We can see this prediction has come to pass, but at the same time our physiological understanding has also taken great leaps forward. The uniqueness of kundalini yoga lies not only in its spiritual practice, but also in the specific nature of the kriyas, which are often designed to balance the nervous systems.

    About Shaura:
Shaura Hall graduated with ANS in 2007 as a Kundalini yoga teacher. She has since undertaken multiple training courses including weeks towards level two. Her graduation as a yoga therapist with the Minded Institute in 2012 significantly informs her work today. Since then, she was invited to lecture at Minded as yoga philosophy and addictions teacher; she has become a senior lecturer on this team. Her work with addictions has given rise to a distinctive training course that is highly regarded in the medical community. In addition, she supervises trainee yoga therapists to support their training journey. Shaura also delivers neuroscience training to third year psychotherapists and counselors in Sheffield.

Shaura is working towards a BSc hons in the Health Sciences to allow her to fully understand the somatic biology that underpins the neuroscience of mental health. She is also working towards a formal certificate in supervision in order to support her work as a trainer in this field. She is fascinated by the transformation potential in connective tissue, thus, is undertaking yin yoga training to discover what this form of yoga can offer.

Shaura believes that yoga has a life of its own and each individual has a unique journey. Shaura’s journey thus far has taken her into many realms and traditions; her approach is one that is open to all that makes sense. Kundalini Yoga holds a special place in her heart, as she feels the practice has set her free from internal bondage and allowed her to live with utility.
