RPS Women in Photography Talk:

‘NEITHER HERE NOR THERE’, self – published Photobook, 2022

This talk will be delivered by Angela Crosti.

It will focus on: ‘Neither Here Nor There’ is a visual diary, a collection of personal observations and thoughts enclosed in a photographic artist book. The series of images combine with text and poetry in an intimate journey: a personal process of recollection of thoughts in search for clarity and acceptance.

Moments of transitions and nostalgia from my home country, its values and its traditions, are instinctively captured by my medium format film camera. Familiar and unfamiliar places metaphorically represent mine and my children’s thoughts in a process of reconciliation with the complexity of our living.

Biography: Angela Crosti

Angela Crosti is an Italian documentary photographer and printmaker currently based in London. Exploring the intricate intersections of home, motherhood, identity and belonging, Angela approaches her projects with a lyrical eye and a profound commitment to social and environmental perspective.

Rooted in her Italian upbringing, Angela’s practice is an expression of her unique female photographic voice. Her thought-provoking works delve into the depth of her concerns, offering nuanced explorations of themes that resonate with universal experiences. Her images are evocative, avoiding literal visual experiences in favour of pursuing more diaphanous and cryptical narratives.

Angela embraces coincidence and intuition as essential working methods. She works predominantly with medium format film cameras and natural light. She is inspired by literature, philosophy and music. Her way of photographing is the by-product of this immersion.
