Description

A route taking in two Munros with a fine ridge walk between the two, before returning via a stalkers path to the village.

Heading through deciduous woodland the path climbs steeply out of Kinlochleven, with good views back to the village and along Loch Leven. Above the treeline, we continue along a path through open moorland, before taking a well-made stalkers’ path on a high traverse around the flank of Sgor Eilde Beag before we zig-zag up the small path to the summit cairn. Here we follow a broad ridge to a minor summit at 1062m where there are extensive views of Ben Nevis and the Grey Corries.

Then it’s a fine walk along a narrowing ridge to the summit of Binnein Mor, the highest mountain in the Mamores, with fine airy views into Glen Nevis. Retracing our steps there’s further ridge walking to our second Munro of the day, Na Grugaichean or The Maidens, where we can enjoy the views from its craggy summit. The return route to Kinlochleven descends the south ridge, before crossing pathless ground to the estate track and paths to the village.

This walk is kindly led by Rich Mountain Experiences.
