A simple duo comprised of confusing people, Ville & Tommie are Swedish-Finnish fiddler Ville Syri and Helsinki-based Cornish accordionist Tommie Black-Roff. They met while both studying at the Sibelius Academy, and now reunite over a common love of tunes, stories and dance music. Swedish, Finnish, Cornish and modernish folk music all finds a home in their able hands.
Stuffing their pockets with foot-stomping melodies, rhythmic curiosity and unusual tonality, Ville and Tommie are making their first outing to the UK for the launch of their debut album 'Stuffed Pockets'. The album presents a whimsical, improvisatory approach to a music that is steeped in cross-border dialogue and tradition. With their playing the dance is never far away: the groove of polska, waltz, hornpipe and schottis is the heartbeat to their tune.
Expect the unexpected, bring your own mustard.
