Description

Join Dr Andrew Richardson FSA, MCIfA, Director of Isle Heritage CIC, for an Introduction to Archaeology in our first Museum Masterclass!

Anyone can get involved in archaeology, and this day long masterclass is the perfect introduction. Andrew - who you might have seen on the latest series of Digging for Britain with Alice Roberts - will lead you through the basics. Whether you’re thinking about archaeology as a career or fancy a new hobby, this masterclass is for you.

After examining what archaeology is, the course will cover a wide range of topics:

How do archaeologists date things?

What sources and types of evidence do archaeologists use?

Which methods do archaeologists use to find things out?

What are the different types of archaeology?

No previous experience or knowledge is required. Students will get the chance to handle a range of artefacts during the day. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day - please bring your own lunch!

Venue

Folkestone Museum, 1-2 Guildhall St, CT20 1DY Folkestone
