Description

Support local charity at the same time as having enormous amounts of fun and come down to Movies with Mind - Hackney’s newest (and tastiest) outdoor cinema and street food event this summer.

Hosted over two nights in beautiful London Fields, this event is all about bringing people together with great food and laugh-out-loud-funny film. All proceeds go to mental health charity Mind, Hackney. Purchase a ticket to gain access to the street food event and to enjoy the film. As if that wasn't enough, each ticket comes with a complimentary drink!

WEDNESDAY 18th JULY: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

THURSDAY 19th JULY: Little Miss Sunshine

Be sure to bring your picnic rug BUT leave the pork pies at home – No food or drink will be permitted at entry. Instead we invite you to purchase delicious dishes from our award-winning food trucks, who will be donating a percentage of their takings to the charity on the night. Enjoy London's best vegan tacos from Club Mexicana, Neopolitan style pizza from firm favourite Fundi or the irresistible squishy steamed buns and "yumplings" from Yum Bun. If that's not enough to satisfy your hunger before the film, sweet tooth superstars, Nonna's Gelato, will also be on hand, with their local homemade ice cream.

We wouldn't leave you to go thirsty either. Hackney's very own Five Points Brewery will be pitching up, continuing their support of local charity, as will the skilled bartenders from Background Bars, with a special Movies with Mind cocktail menu! You can pre-order drinks for the film, along with your ticket purchase below. Beat the queues!

Choose from two laugh out loud, feel good films - everyone's cult favourite Ferris Bueller's Day Off; or the 'bitter sweet comedy of dysfunction', Little Miss sunshine.

Gates open from 6pm, with the film starting at approximately 8.30 (once it gets dark enough)! Be sure to read all the FAQs below, bring something warm to wear and remember its all for charity.

A big thank you to our partners & supporters including: Street Feast, The Rio Dalston, Stir & Seen Presents. (And billetto for halving the booking fee).

(Photograph ID will be required for those redeeming an alcoholic beverage)

FAQs

What happens if it rains? The event will always go ahead in the event of bad weather. Please check the weather forecast in advance and be prepared for the Great British Summer. Screenings will only be cancelled if the weather conditions present a danger at screening time. Patrons accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur on a screening night, and acknowledge that tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless a screening is cancelled by Mind, Hackney. In the unlikely event that a screening is cancelled, we will aim to give as much notice as possible.

Can I bring something to sit on? Yes, by all means feel free to bring a picnic chair or blanket to sit on. Please note that we request those members of the audience on chairs not to sit at the front, but rather position themselves at the side or towards the back of the audience arena. We have inflatable back rests for sale on at ticket purchase point.

What should I wear? Bring warm clothes, layers and blankets as it can get very cool towards the end of a screening. If the forecast looks a bit dodgy, pack some waterproofs just in case.

What should I bring?

  • A torch or lantern can be useful
  • Warm clothes and blankets.
  • Raincoats, windbreakers and ponchos. Note: please be considerate if using an umbrella during a screening as it may block the view of those around you. Thanks!
  • Rugs, tarpaulin or mats to sit on.
  • REMEMBER– don’t bring a picnic, we will not be letting ticket holders in with food.

Can I bring a picnic with me? To these particular out door screenings, no food or drink will be permitted on entry. The event is just as much about buying delicious street food in order to raise money for Mind, as it is about getting together with mates to watch a great film and the vendors will be donating a percentage of their takings on the night.

How old do guests have to be? The classification of each film is clearly marked and we are legally obligated to not admit anyone who appears to be under the age stated, so please use the classification ahead of booking to determine whether it is appropriate for your whole family.

Anyone wishing to drink or purchase alcohol must be 18. Photographic ID will be required for the purchase of alcohol.

Can I smoke at the event? Smoking is not permitted inside the arena. If you wish to smoke at an event, you will be asked to leave the site and will be readmitted once you are finished. Please dispose of your rubbish responsibly.

Can I bring my dog? No, dogs are not permitted at our events out of respect to other audience members. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Are there toilet facilities? Yes, all our screenings have toilet facilities.

Is the event wheelchair accessible? We do expect some of our audience members to bring folding chairs, so please do position your wheelchair wherever you prefer – best to arrive a little early to find the best spot! What tends to happen naturally is that people on blankets sit towards the front and those with chairs further back.
