-Movement for Film-
5-day Intensive w/ Alexandra Reynolds & Tom Afiyan-English
-London, UK-
4th to 8th January 2023
-10am to 5pm-

*Limited Spaces*

Led by the acclaimed movement director Alexandra Reynolds and Ferus Animi // Terra Nova founder Tom Afiyan-English, join us this coming January for 5-day intensive workshop diving into the medium of movement performance for the film and television industries.

-Where-
Siobhan Davies Studios, 85 St George's Road, London SE1 6ER

-Open to-
This intensive is primarily designed for Actors, Dancers, Movement Artists and Movement Directors, and will explore the varied and rich world of movement specialism for film and television, equipping participants with the understanding of the reality of working as a movement specialist/movement artist in the industry today. This will involve exploring aspects of physicality and characterisation, creature work, animal-studies, ensemble work and movement case-studies. Participants from performance backgrounds such as circus, stuntwork and physical theatre are also encouraged to sign up. We also welcome participants who are currently studying at dance, drama or circus conservatoires.

-Intensive Content-
Immerse yourself in the creative process of accessing physical transformation through animal and creature work, catalysing new movement vocabulary for character, exploring what it means to work as part of a movement ensemble, and refining complex and improvised movement choreography for the medium of film, all under the guidance and tutelage of two leading specialists in the field of movement direction. Participants will work through daily sessions in physical conditioning, animal studies, ensemble creature work and movement case-studies, while also receiving provision for 1-on-1 time with the intensive leaders on aspects of personal movement development that are most relevant to their own craft, whether that is acting, movement performance or movement direction. Over five days of intensive research we will explore the specialist areas of the workshop leaders, in addition to cultivating the detailed and consistent approach to devising and performance required in the often high-pressure environment of shooting for film.

Participants will also have a chance to be directed and shot performing a movement case-study they have been working on during the week, with direction, guidance and feedback from the workshop leaders, with footage then be processed, edited and sent to them for their own future use.

"Alexandra is a master movement director, who has coached the best-of-the-best regarding both acting and movement performance on film. We are truly privileged to be working with her on this intensive and can't wait for our students to experience the depth of her work, within the framework of our own rigorous research." - Tom Afiyan-English
