Description
How you move is how you live. The Alexander Technique is a practical, hands-on method for bringing more ease and freedom into both.
It works by stopping the unnecessary, and often unaware, ways we interfere with ourselves, rather than correcting posture or layering on new habits. The result is more natural coordination, and a lightness that carries into how you think and carry yourself.
In this workshop, you get to experience that for yourself. You will begin to notice the subtle ways you create unnecessary effort, and discover what happens when you stop.
What to expect
A supportive atmosphere.
An introduction to the core ideas of the work, followed by hands-on work.
Spaces are intentionally limited so there is time for 1-1 attention.
You’ll leave with
- Practical tools for reducing unnecessary effort in daily life
- A process for continuing improvement, where each day builds on the last
- A clearer mind
Who this workshop is for
Anyone who senses they may be working harder than they need to, whether in movement, thought, or simply being themselves in the world. No experience needed, only curiosity.
About Simon
Simon is a qualified Alexander Technique teacher, trained with the Interactive Teaching Method School on a four-year course beginning in 2012. He teaches this work because he believes it genuinely changes lives. Alongside his AT work, he offers coaching drawing on somatic approaches and contemplative traditions, for those wanting to explore further.
Testimonials:
I love going to Simon for lessons, he's incredibly sensitive in his use of hands and even the most subtle of input seems to lead to significant outcomes. I think this really speaks to the power of the work and Simon's ability to convey the ideas and principles of the Alexander Technique through his approach to teaching.
Liam, Project Director
Simon is an outstanding AT teacher. Not only has the original shoulder issue I sought relief from been resolved, but even more importantly, I now have the tools to improve thinking and movement in all activities. It is especially enjoyable to notice improvements in running and tennis as I use Alexander’s Technique to improve my use.
Holly, Psychotherapist
Simon brought in a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging demeanor to what turned out to be a fascinating experience. We learned how to stop inducing unnecessary tension in our muscles through his guidance to moving with more intentionality, and I experienced relief from muscle pain quickly. Will be exploring this further.
