The five-foot-tall robot Metal Mickey first appeared on British television in the ITV children's magazine show, The Saturday Banana in 1978. The popularity of the friendly robot led to the creation of the Metal Mickey television show. 41 episodes were made between 1980 and 1983, attracting around 12 million viewers. The series was set in the home of an ordinary family, whose youngest child was a science boffin and created Metal Mickey to help around the home.
Micky Dolenz, formerly of The Monkees, was brought in to produce and direct along with Nic Phillips and David Crossman.
In attendance for this special reunion will be Gary Shail (Steve), Ashley Knight (Ken), Lucinda Bateson (Haley) and Johnny Edwards, who created, controlled and voiced Metal Mickey.
Misty Moon's special guest MC David Barry, aka Frankie Abbott from Please Sir! and The Fenn Street Gang, will be in charge of the Q&A. After the Q&A there will be a meet and greet with the guests, who will be taking part in a paid signing.
Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.
Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
