Building on last year's sold out day, we're expanding to cover DEYA's Mixed Fermentation Tap, as well as the main Taproom. Each venue (and they're within metres of each other) has its own feel, with programming to fit the space.
Headlining the festival will be two titans of electronic music, descending on the intimate surroundings of DEYA, and both in Cheltenham for the first time!
Friday will see the legendary 808 State perform live. 808 State have been cited as an influence by no less than Aphex Twin, collaborated with Björk, and been remixed by Bicep - the band’s sound is weaved through the fabric of modern electronic music. The Mancunian electronic pioneers are known for genre defining records including: Ninety, Gorgeous, ex:el and Don Solaris, and are inspired equally by the haunting of their home city’s industrial past (and of course the influence of classic Detroit techno) but still remain true to their career-long focus on what’s to come next.
Saturday will be headlined by Goldie. We’re not sure any further explanation is needed, but here goes… The first superstar produced by the breakbeat jungle movement, Goldie popularised Drum and Bass as a form of musical expression, just as relevant for living-room contemplation as techno had become by the early ’90s. He founded Metalheadz Records, which released seminal dark yet intelligent singles by Source Direct, Photek, J. Majik, Optical, and Lemon D among others. In 1995, Goldie released Timeless, one of jungle’s first and best full-length works of art. The album put him squarely at the top of the drum’n’bass heap, and he’s remained there ever since, so it’s an absolute honour to host his first ever Cheltenham set.
Of course it’s not just about the headliners - we're bringing in talent across the weekend. DJ Bus Replacement Service 'smashes all preconceptions of what a DJ should be' (Mixmag) and we're really (really) looking forward to her set. We’re thrilled to welcome back UK electronic royalty DMX Krew who smashed it last year, and our de facto resident DJ, iz.wav, as well as a load of new including Tia Cousins who recently contributed to London behemoth Fabric's female-led mix series for IWD 2023.
And in the live space we've got a host of acts from Space Jazz leaning Hippo to the experimental Biped of Avon Terror Corps, Dub from Omega Institute and more. The Main Tap room will host a top notch Omega Pro Audio sound system to ensure an amazing experience.
The event will be powered by DEYA's incredible ever changing lineup of beers, soft drinks, and mouth-watering vegan and non-vegan food on site.
And for your head we’ll have Planet Cheltenham (climate action community space), Migration Studios (the world's first music studio dedicated to carbon capture), and University of Gloucestershire Social Issues Society on site, as well as local purveyors of leftfield vinyl Klang Tone Records for a browse.
