Description
As part of the Metamorphic/Røyst Trio collaboration tour in UK in November 2015, the project is coming to London Jazz Festival and will debut new material especially written for the tour. The music will comprise elements from contemporary jazz, folk and world music, and will furthermore seek to explore the dynamic fusion of the two ensembles' creative musical expressions as well as the musicians' collective interest for texture and improvisation in a structural, compositional setting. The pieces will be song-based compositions, but will simultaneously strive to challenge the traditional role of the singing voice through means of creative explorations of voice techniques.

Metamorphic is led by Leeds based composer/arranger/pianist Laura Cole and comprises some of the finest players and composers on the British jazz and contemporary music scene. They have toured the UK extensively and have released the albums 'The Rock Between' and 'Coalescence' to critical acclaim.

Røyst Trio is an a'capella world/jazz/folk group collectively led by its three members. They have toured internationally for over a decade, including a tour of the USA and Canada summer 2015. They released their debut album 'Nordic Initiative' in 2005, and have since then written festival commissions and appeared alongside a string of international artists.
