Description
Attend a Mental Health First Aid course!
On the Mental Health First Aid course you will be taught how to:
Spot the early signs of mental health problems
Provide help on a first aid basis and guide someone towards the right support
Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
Help stop a mental illness from getting worse and help someone recover faster
Reduce the stigma of mental health problems
Feel confident in helping someone experiencing a problem
The course is split into four manageable chunks. These are:
What is mental health?
Suicide
Anxiety and depression
Psychosis
The sessions include a mix of group discussions and group work activities. Your instructor will provide a very safe learning environment and is trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain bits, then don’t, we won’t make you do something you are uncomfortable with.
Due to some of the sensitive subjects of our courses, including suicide, we limit numbers to 16 people. We want everyone to feel safe and our instructors can help if people find some bits particularly difficult.
All participants will receive a MHFA manual and workbook that they can take away at the end of the course.
The course is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and all participants who complete the course will receive a certificate from MHFA England and will be able to say that they are a Mental Health First Aider. The certificate is valid for 3 years
The course is simply for everyone. All we ask is for you to be above the age of 16. This is due to some of the content being quite sensitive and can be upsetting to come. We want to ensure that we create a safe and suitable learning for all our attendees.
Mental Health First Aid won’t make you into a therapist, but you will be able to say that you are a Mental Health First Aider.
Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day
The cost for this course is £300 per person
