On June 8th Portsmouth psychedelic warlords Melt Dunes return to their hometown at The Wave Maiden for a headline show just before the quartet head off to mainland Europe.
Whilst European promoters are most kind with fees, accommodation, rider and so forth the cost to take off work and all that will still mean the band will have to pay out quite a bit for the tour themselves so we’re hosting this show to help the outfit out with some extra pocket money to help with petrol and other bits.
Excellent support comes from Portsmouth psychedelic cult legends You’re Smiling Now But We’ll All Turn into Demons so it’s going to be quite the heavy psychedelic sarnie for just a fiver.
`”Flesh’ from Melt Dunes is an early standout that deftly explains why the South Coast is leading the way with hypnotic organ stabs and murderous yelps” (The 405) Melt Dunes' dense, rhythmic guitar attack has the fiery intensity of Hookworms' early shows coupled with dark, dreamy post-punk (The Quietus) “Our decision to opt for Melt Dunes' psychedelic overload proves a fruitful one. Their half-hour set evokes thoughts of how Pink Floyd's interplanetary excursions in the UFO Club might have sounded back in the day. Or a less opiate fuelled Hawkwind. “ (Drowned in Sound) “Testament to the amazing chemistry and musicality of this band, Melt Dunes’ second single lives up to their growing reputation as a live band”. (So Young Magazine) "This band (Melt Dunes) could very well be UK psych’s saving grace and are unquestionably going to turn the heads of fuzz-fiends across the globe." (Gig Wise)
