Martin Carthy & John Kirkpatrick

Jan 16 2019 19:30 - 22:45

Whitchurch Parish Hall, 28 London Rd, RG28 7LQ Whitchurch

National treasures Martin Carthy & John Kirkpatrick embark on a rare UK duo tour. These two leading interpreters of English folk traditions – folk guitarist/singer Carthy and squeezebox virtuoso/singer Kirkpatrick – are long-time collaborators in a variety of seminal musical projects: from John’s iconic 1976 Morris tunes album Plain Capers through Steeleye Span to Brass Monkey.

Their enduring enjoyment of playing with each other shines through in their performances – warm, natural and charismatic. Folk royalty in Whitchurch, once again!

Support comes from Ian A Anderson, whose name will be instantly recognisable to anyone connected to the folk world. A folk/blues guitarist who has been releasing records and running psych-folk labels since the 60s, he recently released "Onwards!", a career-spanning album that goes all the way back to his early days at the Bristol Troubadour.
