Descrição

Last October we set out to challenge the single story of motherhood because when we looked at representations of mothers in our society we were left with too many blank spaces and questions.

Six months, well over 100 incredible stories, and countless comments and messages later, we're preparing to bring it all to life - Make Motherhood Diverse LIVE is on its way!

We're so proud of the community you have created and we can't wait to celebrate the things that make us different while, through the prism of motherhood, we connect on just how much we have in common.

To help us do that we have put together a panel of six brilliant women in the perfect venue for our first intimate event:

Penny Wincer is a London based freelance photographer, a mother to Arthur (8) who is autistic and needs a high level of support and Agnes (6) who is neurotypical. She is a single parent who also lost her own mother 18 years ago. When not busy taking pictures, Penny writes about freelance family life and raising a neurodiverse family. (@pennywincer)

Schujj is British Pakistani and lives in the North of England. She is a teacher by profession but also a mother of three. She is constantly trying to strike the balance between "the culture club" and raising her family in the UK. (@whattheschujj)

Dr Emma Svanberg is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working in London. She works with individuals and families throughout their parenting journey, from pregnancy, around birth and in the early years of parenting. She specialises in helping people navigate the transition to parenthood, including the lasting impact of birth. Emma is an active social media contributor, using platforms such as Instagram to raise awareness of common perinatal mental health issues. She is also a hypnobirthing teacher, writer and the Perinatal Mental Health Advisor for the Positive Birth Movement. And, most importantly, she is a mum. (@mumologist)

Rikki Knight is a mother of three who loves to teach her children about the beauty of diversity. She’s the author of “Who We Are” a children’s picture book highlighting our connectivity to one another and the Earth. She’s also the founder of @Mendingmummy a platform supporting mums and the Co-Founder of @CulturingSuccess a platform that works towards empowering women from ethnic minorities. Rikki strives to break down the barriers

Cee O Cee Olaleye (@heyisthatme) is a writer and lifestyle blogger who also happens to be a freelance business psychologist. By day, she helps organisations to select and develop the brightest and the best through objective and fair assessment practices. Cee also coaches individuals within these organisations to understand their wants and needs and ensure that they are aligned with those of their employers, promoting engagement and, ultimately, happiness. By night, she writes. By night, she writes. Her musings can be found on her blog, Hey...is that me?, in which she catalogues her life as a member of the Nigerian Diaspora (born and raised in North London) wife and mother of two girls.

And we are delighted that Hoda Yusuf will be chairing the panel chat. Hoda is a life coach and the founder of Blissfullsoul a lifestyle design brand that celebrates abundant living . She is also the author of Lifestyle Design workbook which is a guide to creating a life you love. Hoda has created and delivered workshops all across the UK inspiring women to grow and connect. Her mission is to help everyone she works with pave their own unique path to success. (@blissfullsoul)

The venue, Cuckooz Nest London is London's first fully-flexible crèche with integrated workspace for parents and children under two. The brainchild of entrepreneur and mother-of-one Charlie and her best friend Fabienne, the idea for Cuckooz Nest came from personal experience after Charlie struggled to find affordable and flexible childcare when returning to work. Realising that, in a city where 1 in 7 freelancers are working mums, she was not alone, the team decided to use their business experience to find a solution themselves. When they approached us about hosting our event in their space, we jumped at the perfectly-aligned chance and we would like to thank them for their enormous generosity.

We're also excited to announce that we will be donating any profit from Make Motherhood Diverse LIVE to Zebedee Management's crowdfunder for their next campaign to challenge prejudice and increase awareness. Zebedee Management are specialist talent agents supplying diverse models and offering sensitive representation. Set up by Laura Johnson, a qualified social worker, and Zoe Proctor, a performing arts teacher for people with disabilities, they are passionate about seeing people with disabilities in the limelight. (@zebedee_management)

Find out more about their work on their website https://www.zebedeemanagement.co.uk or watch the video about their first campaign, "This is me: photographing people beyond their disability" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXWYcTKSpfM
