Description
Multi award-winning student accommodation brand true Student will open its doors in Swansea this September, offering an unrivalled, all-inclusive experience that’s set to shake up the way students have been living in the city.
With every new building comes an abundance of white walls, something true Swansea sees as a challenge to rise to – the ultimate blank canvas for a show stopping mural. The independent student accommodation brand has opened applications for one talented Swansea student to become the inaugural winner of their Walls of Fame competition – an acclaim that will see their proposed artwork take pride of place on one of the development’s largest white walls.
Set to become the ultimate backdrop to every pre-night out selfie, the commission will become an iconic visual representation of true Swansea. The winning artist will also receive a cash prize of £1,000 to help them create their signature artwork.
Entrants will be judged by a series of Swansea’s most acclaimed artists, professors and tastemakers, including Charley Uzzell Edwards (aka Pure Evil), one of the Wales’ most successful artist exports and owner of world renowned Pure Evil Gallery in London.
Alongside Charley will sit Katherine Clewett, Programme Director for the Cert HE Art and Design Foundation course at University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Professor Sue Williams, fine art lecturer and highly regarded and award winning international artist. They will also be joined by Marc Rees, an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on large scale, site-specific and community responsive work, who is also Professor of Practice at UWTSD, Associate Artist at Taliesin Arts Centre and co-designed with ACME the newly located gold bridge that spans Oystermouth Road, and Bourdon Brindille, a Swansea based artist with lavish imagination and technical skill who creates playful, absurd and otherworldly sculptures.
They will be joined by Simon Parsons, Group Brand Director of The Bricks Group, the privately-owned property company with a dynamic portfolio of services and brands, currently developing and operating around £1/2billion of assets across the student, co-living and hotel sectors.
To enter, students must submit their proposed design and details (full name, age, university and course, plus 150-200 words describing their concept) to truestudentwalloffame@gmail.com by Friday 19th June.
Situated on Morfa Road in the heart of The Copperworks, with Swansea Bay, the Maritime Quarter and marina only a short walk away, true Swansea sits in the prime location for students at both Swansea University and University Trinity St David’s – making it the ultimate base for all.
Boasting over 700 luxurious bedrooms, the sheer size and scale of true Swansea ensures no comparison when it comes to finding a home filled with potential new friends, and the dozens of perks included in the price leave grotty student houses in the dust.
To enter, submit a draft of your mural design to truestudentwalloffame@gmail.com by Friday 19th June. The winner will be contacted by email.
