A full day of masterclasses and performance/stagecraft workshops for adult amateur pianists taking, or thinking of taking, a performance diploma (ABRSM, Trinity or LCM). Masterclasses will be led by Graham Fitch, and Frances Wilson will tutor on stagecraft and managing exam nerves. Group feedback on performance and programme notes will also be facilitated. Six performers will play a portion of their diploma programme (15-20 minutes) on a Steinway D concert grand piano and to a small and supportive audience, as a trial run before the exam itself. Graham will then work with each performer in detail on aspects of their performance.
Performers will also have the opportunity to take away a video of their performance for their own personal review afterwards.
Fees (plus any booking fees): Performer £90; Observer £18
Performer applications are open until Sunday 19th April. Please fill in the Performer Application Form with the details of your diploma, date you will take the exam and repertoire. If performer spots are oversubscribed, priority will be given to London Piano Meetup Group members, those who are taking their exam sooner, and finally on date of application. We'll email all applicants shortly after 19th April to confirm places and arrange payment.
For those who aren't ready to perform yet, or for whom a diploma is more in the planning stages than the execution, the day is an ideal opportunity to observe several hours of performances and masterclasses on diploma-level repertoire, get ideas for potential programmes, work on strategies to mitigate nerves and anxiety, and also to meet other potential diploma candidates. Piano can be a lonely business, and taking exams equally so - this is a chance to meet others in the same boat and form those all-important support networks!
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable; please book by MIDDAY Thursday 6th June. Full details regarding the detailed timetable for the day and repertoire to be played will be sent out by email the day before the event.
