A full day of masterclasses and performance/stagecraft workshops for adult amateur pianists taking, or thinking of taking, a performance diploma (ABRSM, Trinity or LCM). Masterclasses will be led by Graham Fitch, and Frances Wilson will tutor on stagecraft and managing exam nerves. Group feedback on performance and programme notes will also be facilitated. Six performers will play a good portion of their diploma programme (ca. 20 minutes) on a Steinway D concert grand piano and to a small and supportive audience, as a trial run before the exam itself. Graham will then work with each performer in detail on aspects of their performance.
To apply to perform (places limited), please fill in this form by Sunday 15th April: https://goo.gl/forms/wn1E9svyHYR56lH03 . Performers will then be notified by email if they have been selected or not (and a link supplied to book a performer ticket).
For those who aren't ready to perform yet, or for whom a diploma is more in the planning stages than the execution, the day is an ideal opportunity to observe several hours of performances and masterclasses on diploma-level repertoire, get ideas for potential programmes, work on strategies to mitigate nerves and anxiety, and also to meet other potential diploma candidates. Piano can be a lonely business, and taking exams equally so - this is a chance to meet others in the same boat and form those all-important support networks!
The tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable; please book by MIDDAY Friday 8th June. Full details regarding the timetable for the day and logistics will be sent out by email the day before the event.
