Description
The London Piano Meetup Group for adult amateur pianists is hosting its March event at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre in Barnes. The venue has a very special Steinway grand piano - the 'Tod Boyd Steinway' - which has a lovely warm sound and a great deal of heritage. For further information about the fascinating history of this piano, see here: http://melaniespanswick.com/2014/09/14/the-grand-black-and-white-piano-party-at-the-oso-centre-in-barnes/
This event will once again be an 'anything goes' event, where all styles of repertoire are very welcome. The group provides a friendly, supportive environment in which to air full pieces, parts of pieces, or ‘works-in-progress’, and all standards (beginners to advanced) most welcome, especially those who have not attended one of our events before. After playing for each other we will head to the restaurant/bar next door for some light refreshments.
Time limit for performers: 7 minutes
Performing slots available: 15
Doors open: 10am
There are also plenty of spaces for friends/relatives to come and watch too - or also pianists who just don't want to get up and perform.
To access the OSO, please enter through the doors that face out onto the green (if you come from the road side, the only entrances are to flats and shops). The studio we will be using is straight on through the cafe - if you arrive early, please wait in the cafe rather than heading straight into the studio.
Admission is through pre-bought tickets only, we do NOT sell tickets on the door; there are also no refunds on tickets. The ticketing link will close 24 hours before the event, so make sure you reserve your spot in time. The LPMG is run by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, and all ticket sales go towards venue hire and associated running costs of the group's activities.
To be added to the email list to be alerted to future events as soon as they are announced, please contact the organisers at londonpianomeetup@gmail.com
