    LPMG Turns Ten!

You may be aware that the London Piano Meetup group will be celebrating its Ten Year Birthday this May!

In 2013, Fran Wilson and Lorraine Liyanage, two Successful pianists and pedagogues, had the idea to provide an informal and “Safe” performance space for Adult Amateur Pianists in London. The London Piano Meetup Group was Born!

To celebrate we’ll be playing at the wonderful Steinway hall, who have generously allowed us to use their performance space with a Steinway model D (9 ft concert grand) for the afternoon.

Following the event if you’d like to join me for Beer and Fizz afterwards we have an area booked at the Duchess pub from 5-7pm.

As this is our Birthday event I’d love to get as many people playing as possible so please pick shorter pieces for this meetup ideally no more than 5 mins.

Time limit for performers: 5- 6 minutes

    Performing slots available: 16

Arrive for 2:15 for a prompt 2:30 start.

There are also room for 15 audience members/guests.

IMPORTANT: For this meet-up the 'tickets' are free, please only book a ticket if you can DEFINITELY attend (last minute illness and unpredictable happenings excepted!). LPMG performance events typically fill up well in advance of the event date, and as we do not run a waiting list, so if you book a ticket speculatively and then do not turn up without passing it on to someone else, you may prevent someone else from being able to take advantage!.

Admission is through pre-booked tickets only, and the ticketing link will close 24 hours before the event, so make sure you reserve your spot in time.

The performance space at Steinway Hall is at the back of the showroom - when you arrive, mention that you are there for the London Piano Meetup Group hosted by Rob Foster and head straight on in. There is no food or drink (except water) allowed in the performance space, and please be respectful of customers looking to try out and purchase pianos in the shop.

The London Piano Meetup Group provides a friendly, supportive environment in which to air full pieces, parts of pieces, ‘works-in-progress’, improvisations, own compositions - anything piano related! Instrumentalists with piano accompaniment are also welcome - to arrange any ensembles or accompanists, please go to the group's facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LondonPMG) and post a message there.

All standards of player (beginners to advanced) are most welcome, especially those who have not attended one of our events before. Nerves when playing in front of other people are normal, regardless of how advanced you are or how long you have been playing, and everyone appreciates the challenges of performing in front of others - there is absolutely no judgement or competitive aspect at LPMG events, only mutual support from fellow performers and audience members. There are also plenty of spaces for friends/relatives to come and watch too - or also pianists who just don't want to get up and perform.

To be added to the mailing list to be alerted to future events as soon as they are announced, please contact the organisers at londonpianomeetup@gmail.co
