This is a South London based life drawing class that will be ran from 6pm - 8pm hosted at Goldsmiths University on the 9th March 2016 using sex workers as a muse for art to be created by those who want to join the class.
Throughout the class you will have support from a life drawing host/tutor who is able to help you with developing your skills and techniques.
Alternatively to nude life modelling, your muse will be an adult model who is an adult performer or porn performer who will be glamour modelling/posing and performing strip teases to inspire what you decide to put on your paper.
It is not uncommon to use sex workers as muses in art, however, this life drawing class will challenge the politics around power in art as the class aims to create work and education for women, people of colour, people with disabilities and those of the LGBTQ+ community to focus on creating art that isn't dominated by patriarchal structures or sexual objectification.
The class will run from 6pm - 8pm for two hours with a teacher for £20 for the session which will include refreshments.
(SEX WORKER IS AN UMBRELLA TERM USED FOR THE FOLLOWING WORKERS: ESCORTS, STRIPPERS, PORNOGRAPHY PERFORMERS, CAM GIRLS, GLAMOUR MODELS, DOMINATRIXES, RENT BOYS, SUGAR BABIES AND OTHER ROLES THAT AIM TO STIMULATE SEXUAL ACTIVITY IN EXCHANGE FOR MONEY)
This is an 18+ event, due to its involvement of pornographic displays, sexual conversation and provision of alcoholic beverages.
!This event is importantly a safe space/platform for creating work and educational events for women, people of colour, people with disabilities and those of the LGBTQ+ community, and is in association with the Goldsmiths Sex Worker Solidarity Society.
