Description
Let's face it, having a new baby isn't easy...the physical exhaustion from labour, the crazy hormones and realisation that you have a little human to keep alive and well, with a partner you resent every time they leave the house!
No laughing matter. So let’s get clear on what this PND is. Little talked about, it’s often not explained that it can arrive with a best friend – PNA – postnatal anxiety .. as if there wasn’t enough! And they swap places regularly.
Thats why MumHood has teamed up with Fiona Austin, a positive psychologist specialising in anxiety solutions. She's also a mum.
"Understanding the roller coaster of being a parent is one of the most important aspects of what I do in my practice. When there's suddenly a little person wholly dependent on you, life get's real very quickly and not often naturally. This goes for dad's experience too. We hear a lot about post natal depression, but post natal anxiety - it's insidious sibling can often times be even more debilitating. Airing these things out disempowers our insecurities as well as giving a clarity for a way forward. We're no longer in tribes, city life and children can be hard. Let's make it easier".
Fiona will be with us to talk all about how important we are in our child's life. She'll be helping you manage expectations, share her story as well as hear yours, so you can at the very least grab a smile between naps!
There will also be time for questions and an opportunity to meet other mums who might be feeling a little off since giving birth.
