Science Museum, Exhibition Rd, SW7 2DD London

ArtPoint Foundation invites you to a unique evening honouring Dr. Valentina Tereshkova on the occasion of her 80th birthday at the Science Museum.

Dr. Tereshkova is a legendary figure who helped launch the Space age by becoming the first woman and the first civilian in space. Today she remains the only woman to have travelled solo in space.

Please join us, in the presence of Dr. Tereshkova, at a screening of a specially commissioned film on her life Легенда о Валентине (Legend of Valentina), accompanied by The Russian Philharmonic Orchestra and acclaimed virtuoso violinist Dmitri Kogan.

This evening will also be an opportunity to see the new display at Science Museum Valentina Tereshkova; First Woman in Space, which looks at her early years, uncovers the compelling life story, celebrating this truly inspirational woman. It is an attempt to capture her character and individuality, which have been a great part of her success and to illuminate the little-known sides of her pre-mission life and growing up in a post-war Soviet Union.

Please arrive at the Main Entrance

A Drinks Reception will be held before the tributes begin
