Description

Cabaret comes to the Red Lion Ballroom...

Join Not My Circus at the Red Lion Ballroom for a night of burlesque, circus and vaudeville variety. Le Lion Rouge presents a fusion of provocative Parisian cabaret and classic East End music hall. C'est magnifique!

Hosted by Joe Morose and starring Ruby Deshabillé, Kiki Lovechild, Abigail Collins and Mat Ricardo.

Joe Morose, the dandy Prince of Cabaret, is one of the UK’s top comperes, nominated as Best Host in the London Cabaret Awards. With residencies at 4 of London’s biggest variety and burlesque venues, a couple of West End shows and countless engagements up and down the country under his belt, it’s fair to say, he’s been about a bit.

‘Impishly spiteful and particularly impressive’ - Lyn Gardener, The Guardian

Ruby, a trained actress and showgirl ecdysiast, combines vintage glamour, impeccable musical taste, sensational costumes and occasionally left-field ideas in her breath-taking performances. Having sashayed her way across the stages of the UK and Europe for the last 10 years, Ruby is a highly-respected cabaret artiste, with a wealth of experience in performing and producing burlesque shows.

‘Dazzling’ - This Is Cabaret

Kiki Lovechild is a professional idiot. He is one of the leading cabaret clowns on the UK circuit, touring with variety and burlesque shows as well as performing in theatrical projects. Over the years thousands have enjoyed his tried and tested routines, which draw upon his training and experience in a variety of skill-sets, including mime, physical theatre, puppetry, illusion, escapology and more.

"Kiki Lovechild ... I am amazed ... really, you had to be there!" BBC

Having trained briefly at the Royal Ballet, Abigail Collins eventually ran away with the circus, studying tight wire and trapeze before specialising in hula hoop. She has performed on five continents in four languages, and gained a swag of awards and nominations, including Best Comic Act at the Milan Burlesque Festival, Fool of Muncaster and Best Comic Actress at the Comedy Film festival of America. Alan Davies calls her mix of character comedy, physical skills and off-the-wall audience interaction "absolutely brilliant".

"Terrific skills-based character comedian" Time Out"

A key figure in the cabaret and variety revival, Mat Ricardo has performed by Royal command on more than one occasion, headlined and hosted shows across the UK, and regularly appears further afield, including residencies in the legendary European Variete theatres, appearances in gala shows on stage and television the world over, and regular invitations to perform in such iconic venues as the Royal Albert Hall, The Savoy Hotel, and Hollywood's Magic Castle. He has entertained corporate clients too numerous to mention, consulted on major Hollywood movies, guest-starred on high-profile television shows, but is never happier than when he's in front of a live audience, with a glint in his eye and a trick up his sleeve.

"Mat Ricardo is the Derren Brown of juggling" - LoveFringe
