Description

You are cordially invited (and positively encouraged!) to join me on 7th November to celebrate the launch of my debut EP, 'Restless Bed of Water', at the venue where it all began for my music - The Betsey Trotwood, in Farringdon.

The night will take place downstairs, in the cellar, which I thought to be suitably spooky to suit my music!

In light of this very exciting turn of events (oh yes, I've actually made a record!), I shall be playing with a full-band on the night, with Barbara Bartz on violin, Midori Jaeger on cello, Chris Brambley on guitar and backing vocals, the beautiful Gitta de Ridder and Hannah Lovell adding some wonderful harmonies, and Keir Cooper on percussion.

But..enough about me! As I have some FANTASTIC support acts........

GABRIEL MORENO: 8PM - 8.20PM
If you still needed a reason to get there for the start of the night, this man is it!

Gabriel Moreno is a published poet and singer songwriter from Gibraltar. His songs fuse Mediterranean rhythms with Indie/folk arpeggios performed with a classical guitar. Based on his literary publications, Gabriel versifies lyrics of Love, loss and desire, which are transmitted in sheer emotional nakedness. Having played with multiple bands in Gibraltar, Italy, Peru and Spain, Gabriel Moreno started his solo project in the UK in 2010. Since then he has become an important part of the Alternative Folk scene in London, perfroming all over town and hosting acclaimed music nights at The Betsey Trotwood, Jonestown, Kabaret @ Karamel and other poetry and music venues. He also has 8 collections of poetry published in Spanish and English and rleeased his debut album with Amber Records in 2015. He is currently working on a new album and a new book of poetry based on poetry in the war of Afghanistan.

He will be performing some of his fantastic poetry for us to get the night started.

RAGGED REBEL CITY: 8.40PM - 9.10PM
The second act of the night will be Ragged Rebel City, a fantastic duo, comprising of Stephen Hodd, a personal friend and also the wonderful producer of this EP, and Oddur Mar Runarsson. I'm absolutely thrilled that they're able to be part of the night. I've been lucky enough to hear their debut album in full, which is yet to be released, and it's one of the best things I've heard all year.

Painting a picture of urban decay, of nature taking back the city; harvesters of the fertile ground between acoustic songs and ragged, unpolished, experimental, yet truthful sonic treatment.
Think Bon Iver, Bonnie Prince Billy, John Martyn ensconced in mellifluous free-fall with the abandon of Godspeedyou and Dirty Three. Check their stuff here:

LAURA FRANCES: 9.30PM - 10.30PM
Laura Frances is a unique and haunting voice, calling to mind artists such as Hope Sandoval and the classic Mazzy Star.

A dark, baritone Joni Mitchell baring herself in her songs with a refreshing depth and brevity. She conjures mystical images in the vein of Leonard Cohen and delivers them under misty melodies from a world where everything is ethereal and half hidden.

Her debut EP, 'Restless Bed of Water', comes after just one year of playing live on the London Folk Scene. In this time, she has made a name for herself as one to watch. On the night, she will be joined by a band for her first ever full-band performance.

And, to top it all off (as if that wasn't enough!) the night shall be hosted by the inimitable, one and only, Prince of Poetry Gabriel Moreno, who has endlessly encouraged me all the way on this wonderful musical journey!

Advance tickets: limited earlybird £5 + booking fee, general advance £6 + booking fee, or £7 OTD

Doors 7.30pm. Performances start at 8pm.

I cannot WAIT to see you all there :)
