    Description

Are you starting up a business and considering building a website, or employing someone to build it for you? Or maybe you feel it’s time to update your website to one that reflects where your business is now? If so, then this talk is perfect for you.

There are lots of different ways to build a website and knowing where to start can be a little overwhelming.

To help steer you in the right direction, Jamie Hewitt, Director of North London based web design agency, RocketshipWP, will share his top tips at our next Startup Mums Exchange.

Using examples of real life websites, Jamie will aim to demystify the process and give you the lowdown on what’s good, what’s bad, and how to avoid common pitfalls when building and launching your own website.

In this wide-ranging and entertaining talk, Jamie will discuss important aspects of design, as well as key factors that can affect your website’s performance, and the frequently overlooked but important issue of legal compliance.

    Jamie will share with us:

    • The pros and cons of some different website building platforms
    • Aspects of good and bad design - white space, fonts, images, colours and photography
    • A beginner's guide to web design jargon
    • How to make your website fast and secure
    • How to ensure your website is legally compliant, a.k.a how to avoid being fined or sued
    • How to work effectively with a web designer (if you choose to hire one)
    • Some useful tools that every website owner should know about and where to find more information
