    Description

    Lancaster Comedy Club Presents...

    Archie Kelly

Archie Kelly is best known for his comic portrayal of Kenny “Dalglish” Senior in the award winning Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights. He has also appeared in a number of popular TV shows including another award winning series, Jimmy McGovern’s The Street However, it is a live performer that Archie excels.

An early career as a singer/comedian on the Northern club scene lasted for fifteen years and gave him a wealth of experience on stage as an all-round live entertainer.

He emerged onto the alternative comedy scene as Jackie ‘Mr Goodtime’ Valencio with hilarious parodies and superb vocal impressions.. Archie quickly went on to become a headline act in most of the well known clubs such as The Comedy Store. A successful national stand-up tour, Jumping on the Bandwagon, followed along with other Phoenix Night’s cast members.

He continues to act and perform regular stand-up and is in much demand on the corporate circuit. A cheeky, inoffensive and highly interactive style has endeared him to audiences both here and overseas.

“Funniest thing I’ve seen in ages.” Peter Kay

    Stuart Mitchell

Glaswegian comic Stuart Mitchell’s sharp one-liners, brilliant turn of phrase and clever wordplay made him a perfect choice to support Stewart Francis and Hal Cruttenden on their national tours.

Stuart was tipped to have a promising future after his first ever gig when the judging panel of the UK’s biggest comedy competition gave him special mention for an “amazing performance”,opening with a line acknowledged by one of the judges to be “possibly the best first line of a first gig ever”.

“Rising star of the comedy circuit… employing well-measured set-ups and demonstrating a knack for delivering a whip-smart turn of phrase” The Scotsman
“So popular this bloke” Frank Skinner “Strong, with wry references” Chortle

“Straight out of the school of self-deprecating Glaswegian comedians, comparisons will inevitably be drawn between Mitchell and Kevin Bridges. Mitchell aptly demonstrates that his scope for mirth goes far beyond any “Glasgow’s a wee bit rough” routine. Mitchell’s performance alone is worth the admission fee.” Three Week

    Ruth E. Cockburn

I was born and grew up in Blackpool. In Blackpool I had one of three job opportunities, be a sales woman, a singer or a stripper. I'm crap at sales and I giggle when I'm naked, so singing seemed like the best bet. However I took a fancy to becoming a comedian and so once I'd led left Drama School

I started doing comedy and cabaret shows all over the shop.
Now I write plays, sing in cabaret shows, do street performing and perform in comedy clubs up and down the country.

    'An intriguing personality' Chortle

'Plain and simple she's just funny' Terry Alderton

    Rob Riley

"Commited vegetarian, firearms enthusiast, Buddhist and an ex-convict? That'll be a career in stand up then, Robert." Had Rob "The Gob" Riley had the benefit of a careers advisor in his early thirties you would imagine that s pretty much how the conversation would have gone. Having started on the circuit in 2002, Riley now tours the country in Fatima, his trusty Nissan Micra.

Initially, a dark humour drove his set with a multitude of sacred cows kicked squarely on all four shins. Beneath that twisted material a certain intelligence shone through and the last year or two has seen this come to the fore…

"Imagine the odd pearl of wisdom floating in a bucket of sick filth, served on very thin ice and you should begin to get the picture."

used to be a fair synopsis but, as both act and bloke mature material is more specific to the given room. Never afraid to come off the script Rob is partial to a bit of MCing and is regular comperes at the legendary Off The Rails Comedy Club in Saddleworth. So, in short, come and see for yourself…
