Description
Kennington Talkies presents Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), plus full supporting programme.
Lt. Fletcher Christian (Clark Gable): “But the prisoner is dead, sir!”. Captain William Bligh (Charles Laughton): “Never mind, continue with the punishment!” Directed by Frank Lloyd, and also starring Franchot Tone, Mutiny on the Bounty was one of the biggest hits of its time. Although its historical accuracy has been questioned (inevitably, as it is based on a novel inspired by the facts, rather than on the facts themselves), film critics consider this adaptation to be the best cinematic work inspired by the famous – or notorious – 18th century Royal Naval mutiny.

The Cinema Museum, 2 Dugard Way, off Renfrew Road, SE11 4TH London
