Description

Kansas Smittys Bank Holiday Backyard BBQ

This good friday is going to be deliciously bad..

Kansas Smittys are taking over Dalston Pond in the heart of Gillett Square to host an all day live music, food and julep bash.

After two road block events at Vault Festival we just wanted to invite everyone over to our place to hang out. So from 12 o'clock midday to 2am its FREE ENTRY and our doors are open to anyone to come by and kick off the first long weekend of the year. Eat with us, get loosened up and enjoy the pleasures of Smittys Julep bar from afternoon to night.

Its free entry to to come and enjoy the julep bar but £30 for either lunch or dinner. There is absolutely no chance of this BBQ being rained off.. So grab you and your mates tickets to our Lunch or dinner(did someone say eating contest???)

All food will be served the right way: family BBQ style. Lunch at 2pm and dinner at 8pm.

The Menu

*

Smittys home-style hot tamales

"spicy pulled pork & Fragrant chick pea & spinach filling wrapped in a light Masa and steamed to perfection. Both served with sour cream, home made hot sauce & salsa verde"

*

Kansas-City-style bourbon smoked pork ribs, Cajun BBQ Chicken, served with a selection of soul food staples cheesy grits, collard greens, sweetcorn & all sauces

*

hand made Bourbon ice cream served with grilled beignets.

*

it wouldn't be proper BBQ without a jug of Bourbon & sweet lemonade

so have one on us!

The music will be playing all day as the sounds of New orleans, Chicago, and of course Kansas city ring out from The Kansas Smittys House Band. With each show this band move one step closer to their goal “put danger back in Jazz” so leave the spats at home and come along ready for anything.

Smitty's is all about juleps and in this backyard, there's one for every taste bud. Fresh Allotment Juelp is made with Hendricks Gin, infused with nettle, elderflower, coriander, apple pear and mint. On the other end is the suitably ecclesiastic Jesuit's Bark Julep: Mount Gay Rum with cloves, grapefruit peel, mint & pimento. Of course, there's always the original (some say best) Smitty's Julep made with Four Roses Bourbon, cinnamon, raisins, peach & mint. The bar will also have a short range of local beers and nice bottles of house red and white.

Each of our 8 infused Juleps comes simply served with a big scoop of crushed ice and presented in our signature Monty Cup - you’ll just have to come and see for yourself what one of those is (and maybe meet monty if your lucky).
