The Castilla-La Mancha region from where award-winning flamenco guitarist José Almarcha hails is Don Quijote country, a land of windmills, wine, music and mirage and indisputably colours his virtuoso playing and compositions. Graduating from the Córdoba Conservatory of Music where he learnt with masters such as Paco Serrano and Niño de Pura, he has collaborated with many flamenco greats including Carmen Linares, Rafael Amargo, Antonio Canales, Olga Pericet, Marco Flores, Sandra Carrasco. His third album, "Un Nuevo Paseo", released last December, on which feature acclaimed Andalusian singer-songwriter Javier Ruibal and flamenco luminary Carmen Linares, "intertwines flamenco guitar’s intricate patterns and dazzling rhythms with rock music’s intensity and soul’s groove" World Music Central.
Expect a thrilling performance of raw, powerful guitar, with strong, rhythmic vitality from the percussion and jazzy piano elements that harmonise with the flamenco, long a language of the oppressed.
Born in Brazil, pianist André JahJah graduated from the prestigious Souza Lima Conservatory of Music (São Paulo) and completed his doctoral programme in Music at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has accompanied musicians throughout Europe since 2006.
Demi García Sabat is a versatile percussionist who performs with flamenco, jazz, Latin and Arabic groups around the UK and Europe. He has featured regularly in the Tuned In London programme.
A licensed bar will be available. Doors open 7pm. Rotherhithe Station is a 2 minute walk and Bermondsey tube station is a 10 minute walk. Buses C10, 381, 188, 47, P12, are within easy reach.
