Local hero Jon Wilks will probably need no introduction. Whitchurch Folk Club is delighted that he will open his new album tour here at the Parish Hall on Saturday 4th October. This event will be popular - get your tickets soon to avoid missing out.
Jon is a stand-out folk guitarist and sublime songwriter. His recent music career includes four solo albums and one EP. His last album won The Guardian Folk Album of the month, Jon was Mark Radcliffe’s session guest on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show and appeared in worldwide magazine The Guitarist with a double page spread.
The new album
Jon’s forthcoming album overflows with spirit, momentum and infectious joy. ‘Needless Alley’ is a richly textured collection of mostly original songs, underpinned by Jon’s exceptional playing and songwriting with heart. This album really shines a light on Jon’s love of words and history and his flair for storytelling.

The Whitchurch Folk Club is an occasional concert series focusing on traditional folk music. It takes place in All Hallows Church or Whitchurch Parish Hall as and when artists become available.
