Description
JAPANESE WOODCUT PRINTING
With City Lit
3 hours
Japanese Woodcut or Mokuhanga is a versatile technique and differs from western (oil-based ink) woodblock in that it is water-based and non-toxic, using watercolour pigment, wood block, Japanese carving tools, rice paste and Japanese paper to create beautiful refined prints. It is done entirely by hand without a printing press and is therefore ideal for working at home. This workshop (3 hours long) will give you a hands-on introduction. You will try out the cutting tools on practice pieces and using prepared blocks you will make your own Japanese Woodcut prints to take home. Tutor - Carol Justin.
