Jade Hairpins snuck onto the scene in late 2018 with a mysterious 12-inch on Merge Records. The band were hiding quietly in a tall grove, softly whisking away the mask of dew and doubt, thrilling the needed speakable truths of equality and peace into four beats and a cascading melody. Jade Hairpins comprise of Jonah Falco and Mike Haliechuk of Canadian hardcore punk titans Fucked Up, weirdo-hyperpop artist Jack Goldstein and Tamsin M Leach of London proto-punks Es. There debut album, Harmony Avenue, was released on Merge Records in 2020.

Yemrot is the solo guise of Jimi Tormey, of Margate rabble rousers GANG. To get to know Yemrot you first need to meet Dill Dandin. A character of Tormey’s mind, which may or may not have come to fruition after its creator witnessed Elton John’s meme-triggering lockdown performance of I’m Still Standing. It was the fictional figure’s encounter with a sinkhole that is the inspiration not just behind the name of Yemrot’s debut mini-album The Sunken Garden – but also its wandering, gleefully maximalist 12-minute centrepiece (The Ballad Of Dill Dandin). The Sunken Garden was released through PRAH Recordings on November 4th. The album follows the course of Tormey’s fictional creation/alter ego, Dill Dandin.
