To celebrate the festive season Islington Square Presents: The Christmas Sorting Office, a brand-new event, taking place on Saturday, 23 November from 12pm-5pm on Upper Street.
Islington Square, once home to a grand postal sorting office for all mail destined for North London, will welcome ‘The Christmas Sorting Office’ and play host to a variety of complimentary workshops, a special post box for Father Christmas letters and an illustrator decorating beautiful handmade gift tags. The pop-up forms part of a wider shopping and dining event where the retailers, restaurants and bars will come together to offer visitors a festive experience including promotions, special menus, discounts and activations.
The open-air boulevard will be transformed into a Christmas market by Urban Food Fest which will feature a bustling hub of local makers’ stalls and artisanal products. Alongside this there will be live entertainment, a new Christmas tree installation and The King’s Head Theatre ‘Cinderella’ pantomime cast will make a special appearance.
Free workshops at ‘The Christmas Sorting Office’ will run between 12pm-5pm on 23 November, featuring Christmas Wreath making, sip & paint, plant pot painting including kid's friendly arts & crafts. Children are invited to write their cards or letters to Father Christmas and post them in the beautiful Islington Square Post Box. Each letter posted is in with the chance to win a gift throughout the festive season.
RETAILER OFFERS AND ACTIVATIONS
Shoppers can enjoy a 25% discount at Fisheye Opticians, a voucher with purchase at Percy Langley or The Wearer, The Lounge & Co, Arlo & Jacob and Wild Swans will be offering Christmas treats and drinks in-store. Give Your Best is hosting an ethical Christmas market and The Bottle Cocktail Shop will run a pop-up bar in the North Arcade. Odeon Luxe & Dine will unveil their brand new photobooth which will be up throughout the whole Christmas season. Head there with family or friends as the photobooth will be free to use exclusively on the 23 November.
Islington Square is partnering with a local charity Islington Giving on a cracking new idea to end loneliness in Islington. All proceeds raised through the hand-crafted Angel Crackers will support the charities’ work with isolated and vulnerable neighbours in Islington. The charity's Christmas crackers will be available at the Christmas Sorting Office pop-up on 23rd November for a donation of £5 each or £30 for a box of 6.
CHRISTMAS AT ISLINGTON SQUARE
Throughout Christmas there will be a range of experiences on offer in Islington Square. From 30 November The King’s Head Theatre will showcase a new family-friendly Cinderella pantomime running until 5th January. Megan’s, a Mediterranean inspired restaurant, is launching a new Christmas party set menu perfect for getting together with family, friends or colleagues. OMNOM is offering a new Christmas menu, and Selv Roastery will have mulled wine available during this festive period. Get your Christmas shopping done at Borough Kitchen or Karaca or head to Anthropologie to see a lineup of exciting festive gifting in-store from trendy homeware to the most popular beauty products.
