Join Tom English for a five-day online course introducing the practical and theoretical foundations of mindfulness-based meditation practice.
This course offers a structured introduction to both the practical techniques of mindfulness meditation and the theoretical frameworks that underpin the practice, drawing on contemporary research in neuroscience, evolutionary physiology, performance psychology, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Across the five mornings, participants will be guided through core meditation practices alongside accessible teaching and reflection, supporting a grounded understanding of how mindfulness can be integrated into daily life, study, work, and creative practice.
The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to deepen or refine an existing practice.

Daily Structure (BST)
Sessions will typically follow the below structure, with small variances in day-to-day order and length of practices
- 7:00 – 7:10am — Arrival, settling in and introduction to daily practice theme
- 7:10 – 7:30am — Guided sitting meditation
- 7:30 – 8:00am — Teaching: mindfulness theory & applied understanding
- 8:00 – 8:20am — Reflection and guided inquiry
- 8:20 – 8:30am — Closing meditation
Practical Information
This is a 5-day course delivered online. Participants are encouraged to join all sessions, as the curriculum builds on knowledge and experiences from previous sessions.
Please ensure you have a quiet space and a notebook for reflection. Sessions will be recorded for archival and teaching development purposes (only the host is recorded).
All sessions will take place on ZOOM Video Conferencing Platform. Please make sure you have the appropriate set-up to join all sessions in a timely and effective manner. All relevant joining information will be sent out to registered participants by Friday the 3rd of July 2026. Tom English is a lecturer, movement specialist and dance scientist, and the founder of Ferus Animi // Terra Nova. He studied at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance (Foundation Degree), London Contemporary Dance School (Bachelor of Arts with Honours), the Oxford School of Drama (Postgraduate Diploma), Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Master of Science with Outstanding Distinction), and Barca Universitas (Certificate in Neurobiology and Sports Performance/Certificate in Neuroscience and Training). He is a current student at the University of Oxford, studying for a Master of Studies degree in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy. Tom wrote his Master of Science Thesis on the relationships between mindfulness-based training and flow states in contemporary performance practices.
Tom has presented research at institutions including p.a.r.t.s., the UK conservatoires (Rambert/LCDS/NSCD/Laban), The Embodiment Conference and the European School of Osteopathy amongst others. He is the Course Leader of the MA Dance: Performance Programme at London Contemporary Dance School / University of the Arts London, and a member of faculty at the Oxford School of Drama, where he has built a course of curriculum on performance psychology/physiology. Tom has worked as a movement consultant for Warner Brothers, Working Title Film, Netflix and Universal Pictures.
Tom's personal practice is informed by ongoing research under the teachings of Grandmaster Tae Yong Lee of Sang Moo, Moshé Feldenkrais, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Kristin Linklater, Wim Hof, Professor Guilherme Arashiro, Mestre Itamar, David Zambrano, Linda Kapetanea & Jozef Frucek and the writings of Shunryū Suzuki, Yoshi Oïda and 'neuroplastician' Norman Doidge.
