In conversation with Liam Casey (founder, PCH International) and Richard Newton (Financial Times / BA Business Life Technology) on Impact By Design.
Liam Casey
Liam Casey is the Founder and CEO of PCH, a company that designs custom product solutions for the world's best brands, from startups to Fortune 500s. Whether design, engineering and development, manufacturing and fulfilment, distribution or retail, PCH takes on the toughest challenges. If it can be imagined, it can be made.
Liam is widely recognized as a thought leader in hardware, supply chain management, next generation retail and startups. His entrepreneurial flair and talent for spotting new opportunities has revolutionized international commerce and disrupted traditional supply chain models, contributing to the success of many of the world’s largest technology brands.
Named after the famed California highway, Liam established PCH in 1996, as a manufacturing and supply chain management company. In the years since, PCH has expanded well beyond those bounds, employing nearly 2800 people worldwide, and having revenue over $1 billion in 2014. In recent years, PCH has made a targeted move into product design engineering and development and startup innovation.
PCH is headquartered in Liam’s native Cork, Ireland with operational headquarters in Shenzhen, China and USA headquarters in San Francisco, CA, where PCH has its Innovation Hub. Liam now divides his time between San Francisco, Shenzhen and Cork.
Liam was awarded Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year-Ireland accolade in 2007. In 2015, Liam was named by Metropolis one of six top “Game Changers” in the world of architecture and design because of PCH’s incubation program and sustainability practices.
Liam is a member of Ireland’s National Competiveness Council and the Action Plan for Jobs Implementation and Monitoring Group, as well as the Joint Industry/Government task force on Big Data. He is also an Enterprise Ireland International Start-up Ambassador to China and a member of the board of California College of the Arts.
