Immaculate
In the shadows of a mystical northern province, at the top of a mountain,
lies a monastery. Cold weather, cold hearts, wild storms, forests full of wild
beasts… Every four years, on the night of St Victor's Eve, only the
sacrifice of the voice of a child born feet first will keep the evil in the
uplands at bay.
Immaculate is an immersive physical theatre performance where audience members become the centre of the story. Inspired by Ovid’s poem about the myth of Echo, this show follows the supernatural and ritualistic journey of a young girl who sets off into a forgotten community. By challenging the mythic tropes of right and wrong, the show will resemble real life more than allegory. This dark and entrancing narrative celebrates women's strength and determination to survive.
In this unique theatrical experience, audience become citizens of this northern community and follow Echo's through space and time. This durational performance of 4 hours will allow a journey of 1 hour, 20 minutes for each audience group in small groups.
