The Hoxton Mod Alldayer represents nearly 60 years of a British youth culture that has influenced, music, art, fashion and left an inelable mark on British culture, from the Stones R&B, to Bailey’s iconic images to Mary Quant to the current crop of creatives burrowing away at the mod scene for music and fashion tips to throw into the current looks and sounds.
The Mod Alldayer at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen will bring together 3 generations of DJs and bands to celebrate the scene and also raise funds for Great Ormond Street children’s hospital. From the 60s sounds to the ’79 revival to the current crop influenced and living the life.
On the day you will see 12 great DJs from the ’79 revival to today playing a mix of Rhythm n Blues, 60s Soul, British Beat, Brit Pop, Ska, Northern Soul & Blues across two rooms while in the restaurant reveal in the visual delights of MODs ’82 a rarely seen home movie taken over a week in the mod/soul scene in London in 1982 plus a few other films from the time.
The highlight of the day will be the bands with 7 bands playing including the Purple Hearts original line up and the 79ERs a mod ‘super group’ combination of The Chords / Long Tall Shorty / Purple Hearts and 007 all legends within themselves, there will be lots of special guest coming along to chip in on the night so expect a few surprises.
