How to Grow, Pickle & Preserve Cucumbers (and other vegetables)

From GBP 25.00

Location

Date

Jul 07 2018 09:00 - 12:00

Description

The Event:

In line with our summer theme of preservation, this workshop will offer insight into creating pickled vegetables from scratch.

Based within PICULPEPER on The Culpeper rooftop, guests will learn how to grow cucumbers - and other vegetables in the cucurbit family, such as courgettes and squash - and turn them into fresh pickled veg. As an added bonus, guests will also have fun making some handmade trellis' for cucumbers to climb up, referencing those used in our very own rooftop garden.

Guests will leave with a cucumber plant, their handmade trellis for it to climb up, and some pickled cucumber to satisfy any pickle cravings.

Tickets are also inclusive of a light lunch cooked on our wood fired grill, with sides containing herbs, salads and vegetables fresh from our garden.

PICULPEPER:

As the summer weather makes cucumbers grow abundantly on the roof, we’ll be serving up the big ones and preserving the little ones in brine to bring joy to the winter months. Across cocktails, dishes and workshops, the modest pickle will be elevated to a new height. Quite literally as we also unveil The Culpeper’s resident gherkin at the bow of the pub – a totem to celebrate the power of the pickle in physical form for all of East London to see.
