The Hampstead Jazz Club is proud to be taking part in this year's EFG Jazz Festival, supporting this jazz extravaganza, and promising to bring you a lauded line-up of some of the best artists and jazz on the scene today!

As part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, to offer musicians a greater return for their performances, we are adding an additional £2.50 per ticket during the festival, all of which will go directly to the musicians. We hope you will support our musical community.

Following on from their last sold-out performance, critically-acclaimed Italian vocalist Irene Serra (Wynton Marsalis US3) and guitarist Luca Boscagin (Jason Rebello, Cinematic Orchestra, Jim Mullen) return to the Hampstead Jazz Club to showcase their creation of a special project "The Great British Songbook".

Brought together by their passion for British pop music, they have handpicked some of the most loved songs by famous British singers and/or songwriters of the last 50 years and created fresh-sounding, unique arrangements. From The Beatles to Sting, Massive Attack and Imogen Heap, this evening will be a celebration of some of the most defining songs in
the history of the British music scene.

    IRENE SERRA

Irene Serra is a critically-acclaimed Italian Jazz vocalist and composer based in London. She is known for her varied and eclectic repertoire, masterfully performing straight ahead jazz standards, blues, Brazilian music and her own original compositions.

Irene has performed in world-class venues in and around the UK, including the Barbican (with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra), Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Union Chapel King’s Place.

A thoughtful and intelligent musician, she started studying jazz at the age of 16 at the Academy of Music in Milan with renowned jazz vocalist Tiziana Ghighlioni and then moved to London to continue studying music at Goldsmiths College. She gained a distinction while completing her Masters in Music Performance at the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama.

Her poised performances have already earned her much critical acclaim: her original project, ISQ, was a ‘Time Out Critics Choice’ in 2015 and she was longlisted for “Best Jazz Vocalist” at the 2022 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. She was also a finalist at the Shure Montreux Jazz Competition in 2009. Irene is currently working on her 5th album of original music with her project, ISQ and is also set to release her first album of Jazz standards in 2024.

    LUCA BOSCAGIN

Guitarist Luca Boscagin grew up heavily influenced by Rock & Jazz, and as a musician has an equally wide range of guises to play with. He moved to London in 2009, driven by a passion for the British music scene where he recorded at major studios such as Abbey Road and Real World.

He has played with several Italian and internationally renowned musicians, from Eliot Zigmund (Bill Evans Trio), Jim Mullen (ex Average White Band and Jazz Blues legend), Troy Miller (Amy Winehouse), Ares Tavolazzi (Area), Fabrizio Bosso, Omar Leyfolk and The Cinematic Orchestra amongst others.
