HEALTHFEST PRESS RELEASE
Tv’s Dr Chidi Challenges Londoners to Reverse Diabetes
Last week to mark World Health Day the WHO (World Health Organisation) delivered their first global report on diabetes, telling us that this epidemic now affects one person in eleven or 422 million adults with a global cost of treatment now reaching a staggering $825 billion us dollars per year.
TV’s Dr Chidi, one of Europe’s leading Lifestyle Doctors, says “that in the UK approximately 3.5 million people are diagnosed with the disease and around 700 people are newly diagnosed every day! This alarming and rapid growth means the NHS spends 10% of its budget treating the disease, which is crazy when type 2 diabetes can be prevented, improved and even reversed by simple but important changes in lifestyle.” The WHO report highlights the need to step up prevention and treatment of the disease and as a consequence Dr Chidi has decided to do something very practical about it.
He’s inviting anyone who’s interested to Healthfest London, on the 28 August for a free seminar that will kickstart the process of reversing, improving or preventing diabetes. But it’s not just about diabetes, he says “it’s for everyone who’s interested in living healthier lives in order to prevent many of the chronic ‘lifestyle’ diseases that are robbing us of long and vibrant lives.” On offer will be free health checks along with many seminars and demonstrations on healthy weight loss, becoming a vegan and cooking healthy on a budget etc.
“But health is not all about your body” he says, “mind, body and spirit are connected – we need to look after all three to have optimum health” - so Healthfest will also be offering classes on de-stressing and living your spiritual values. If that all sounds a bit serious he’s teamed up with producer Mervyn Weir, to offer a unique musical concert called the Rhythm of Life based on the science that ‘singing is good for your health’. So this won’t just be listening to great artists, it will also include the audience singing along to inspirational songs that leave you feeling inspired, empowered and healthier.

The much reported WHO report on the diabetes epidemic gives us a unique opportunity to present Healthfest London as actually a response to the crisis spearheaded by Dr Chidi, who is concerned and able to provide a solution that is cheap and effective.
Because of the way the media and the PR world work we have to move very quickly if we wish to take advantage of this opportunity.
So please quick your thoughts an suggestions very quickly by the end of the day (Sunday) to see if we can and should proceed in this way.
