Abstract:

Occlusion is not a popular subject in contemporary meetings and continuing education courses , it used to be a very conflicting subject back in the past and nowadays it seems the missing subject in dental education. Evidence based guidelines concerning TMD management have reduced the attention that in the past was paid to this topic, nevertheless everyday clinical practice still has to do with management of occlusal surfaces in restorative and prosthetic dentistry as well as in orthodontics. A pragmatic approach to everyday management of simple to complex interdisciplinary clinical cases will be presented. A hands on session for managing different maxillo-mandibular bite registrations procedures will be run with analogue as well as digital techniques.

Carlo E. Poggio DDS, MS Orth, PhD, is Active Member of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP), of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO) and of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP). Associate Fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics. Visiting professor in the Postgraduate Program of Orthodontics of the University of Milan (Italy) and in the Departments of Prosthodontics of the universities of Siena (Italy) and Rochester (NY). President Elected of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP) for 2019-2020 and member of the Executive Board of the American Prosthodontic Society. He is in private practice in Milan but maintains research and publishing activity (H-index 19).
